New Year New Hope

Small progress steps but met with big challenges

On Christmas Eve 2023 Johnna was able to leave the nursing home and attend a candlelight service at The Gathering in St. Louis. The home church, that Johnna and Becca attend regularly, was warm and welcoming showing love and support to both Johnna and Becca. Even though mobility was still limited, we were able to lift her in and out of the car. Being able to get out and socialize with friends at church was a boost to the soul for sure. It was the first time that Johnna was able to leave the nursing home. After the service we ate some great Mexican food and drove around to see some Christmas lights before returning to the nursing home. Johnna's spirit was definitely lifted.

Christmastime was special as it reminded us of the true hope that we have....And gratitude for what we are blessed with as well as hope for the future blessings that are in store as we trust God and his plan. We had a great time together enjoying company and presents and a Christmas dinner.

Since Christmas 2023, there have some life updates that we want to share as you consider how you might want to support Becca and Johnna with prayer, finances or volunteering.

Over the several weeks, Johnna has been finally receiving some physical therapy on a routine basis. We have seen some encouraging improvement to strength and mobility. Slow progress is progress. Unfortunately, several weeks ago, Johnna was notified of her release from her employment. Although several members of her team and across her company have been let go, we also recognize that part of that decision MIGHT have been due to her medical/health condition. Walking by Faith is never easy or understanding, but it is always necessary to see God's full plan revealed in our lives. And that is what we have to rest on.

Last week the neurologist saw Johnna again. 16 vials of blood were drawn for testing. We should have some data to share in the coming weeks with another doctor visit in March. We are hoping that there will be some conclusions that lead to a viable plan for recovery.

We appreciate all of the prayers and support over the past weeks and months. Please continue to pray for healing and decision-making wisdom.
